Leri, I don't know their names I have done tractor work for them. They have German Shepards. They train and do trials here in Ramona. It is an all German Shepard club. If you know where I could go watch here in San Diego I would like to go check it out.

My name is René Sørensen, and I am the owner of kennel VON HAUS PETULA AMSTAFF in Denmark. I got my first dog in 1985 (A german shepherd) and since then I have been training narcotica dogs and bomb dogs for the Police Force and also watchdogs for the night guards, etc. I have visited the USA several times in order to train dogs for the Police Force, and year 1998 I went to Seattle to deliver a german shepherd for the Police. Before my trip to Seattle, I contacted kennel CEDARS and I was informed that the owner had a he dog which was 7 months old and this was how I was introduced to my first Amstaff: George. During my visit I saw George at Carrie's place and I tested him and immediately I was certain that this should be the dog for me. 1 month later he arrived in Denmark by flight and since then we have several Amstaffs in our house, but George is and always will be the Number 1. George is functioning well everywhere, at my private home, on the training field and as a watchdog at my work. It has been a real test for me to train a terrier in stead of a german shepherd. I train George in the IPO

Hello, I saw George a few years ago on your webpages. It is a nice dog and I remember he was swimming in a sort of bath. I also asked myself why he had to swim. Is it for training his muscles or is it just for fun. I also read about knee-ruptures where it was told that swimming was good for the dog's knees. Also welcome to this forum and I hope you enjoy being here. Kim Bague (Belgium) or Dakota as nickname

Hello Members, My name is Jeffery Morrison I live in Rosanky (Austin area), Texas, USA. I have had the pleasure of having real dogs (Pitbulls/AmStaffs) in my life since I was 12 years old. When I got my first bulldog (that's what AST type dogs are refered to here in Texas) in 1974 I realized that I had the all around dog. Through out the years with the mentoring of old pitmen I learned what to look for in a true working dog. I was taught that youcan have both brains and looks. The best advise I was ever given was get a good obedience handle on these dogs then step back an watch because they'll excell at what ever you ask of them. I have found that statement to be true. Two of the best cattle dogs I have seen were AST/APBT's. Neither dog was trained to work cattle they just had a very good obedience handle on them. They watched th Assies and ACDs the rest just came naturally. Until 1998 I owned and trained UKC Abpt's and a rescue, at that time I got my first AmStaff. I bought my first AST, after tragicly losing my rescue APBT. I could not find kennels that had the "old type" dogs that I had had for so many years. Upon suggestions of several of the members of the Training club that I attended I got in touch with a AST breeder who became my mentor in AmStaffs. In 2000 I moved from owner/trainer to breeder when I married a fellow AST fancier. This has been an ajustment for both of us since I come form a working background and although many of the dogs from her kennel had exceled in different disiplines (flyball, agility, ect) she had focused mainly in the conformation ring. At current we have a yard of 7 adults and two litters of seven and 4 puppies. Our goal is to have all of our breeding dogs recieve their ROH lofty goal and just starting that pursute. Our lines are of the old Rolls/Xpert dogs, many of the dogs behind our dogs are of the same breeding of the old Jackie Fraser dogs. Currently training in Obedience, Frisbee, Tracking, and Agility with several dogs would love to l learn more about Shutzhund training. Like many of you I too believe the breed(s) are in terrible danger of BSL. I also believe it would benifit our wonderful breed(s) if we each would take every opportunity to educate and demonstrate whenever possible (to quote Leri), I know that has helped in our community. Guess that may be more than you wanted to know, but oh well that's who I am. Jeffery

Hey! My name is Alexander, I was born in Aruba, moved when I was 2 yrs old... lived ALL over the world due to my dads job. I'm Dutch by nationality, father is Dutch mother is from Aruba. I now live in Temple TX after having lived in Floriday first, then back to Holland (Arnhem), back to the US, California, then to Seattle WA and now I'm in Belton TX, in about three days I will be moving to Temple TX (buying a house). I'm maried, and have 1 daughter, work a full time job at Nextel and was into cars until recently... I had to drop that habbit cause it cost me waay too much. So, in about 2 weeks I will be picking up our first pup. An AST out of White Rock and Tonkawa lines. Sire = Charlie Horse and Dam = King James' Delilah. I'm very excited about this and can hardly wait. My goals are to work with our dog, but mainly he will be our family PET. His registered name is Daily Blessings Ronnie Ray but his call name will be Kona. Anyhow there's a little bit about myself, take care! Doei.

Well, the truth is I think that there are many Pit Bull and mixes over there. I'm not so sure that Arubans are affraid of dogs in general... it's just that I believe our culture is a but different.
I don't think that Island people in general view dogs the same way others do... I might almost say that we it's closer to the older days, but then with less respect.
A dog is just that a dog. People get them, put them in the back and front yard tie them up and that is where they stay. I know personally from what my family has done, the mentality is, the scarier the dog the better it will be at scarring potential burglars off...
Dogs there are mainly just outside dogs / guard dogs. Yet, they do not receive any training... the philospohy there is... if you tie up the dog, it will get mean and scare off people. It's pretty much true.
We have lots of loose dogs running around in packs, these are dogs that broke of their chains and run away. They are scary animals, they chase people on foot, chase cars, people on bikes etc and noone really give a crap.
When I used to go back as a kid, whenever I'd walk outside I'd carry a big rock or a stick, just in case a dog would come after me.
so in general dogs aren't treated too well, people leave them outside and feed them, mostly scraps, cooked rice etc, left over bones and what not.
We refer to them as "street dogs", animals crazy enough to run after cars as if they could take them on, agressive animals that never really recieve love. They don't get the dogs "fixed" so you got tons of mixes walking through the neighborhoods, My grandma has two dobbermans, to "guard" her place... funny thing is since they are always tied up, they always run away ever chance they get and really never stay on the property...
It's a weird scenario there.

Hello, I am new to the board, but really like it so far. I am 36 years old, and have owned APBTs since I was a teenager. I started Schutzhund training about 13 years ago. I got into Amstaffs 10 years ago. At this time I have a male(Magnus) with a SchH1, that I will be trialing this summer for his 2 & 3. My retired dogs are ACE Zeena-SchH1, UCD, AD, WH, UWP"CH" and Killian SchH3. I also enjoy attending PP trials and conformation shows. We also have several dogs weight-pulling in UKC & ADBA(Annie-SchHA & Rocky-CD). I actually enjoy any sport that I can work my dogs in. Right now I train with OG Michigan SchH Club, a all GSD club, that is open to me training my terriers. I also like to hunt, especially in the fall.

Know what, I like how you have so many difft titles on your dogs... that is a true testimony to the versatility of the breed! This is my intention with the dog I will be getting, I really want to work it in various events and title it, for one in order to prove that the APBT / AST are the BEST breed in the world and therewith comes good PR.

Hi everyone! I'm from Germany, I have two Staffies (SBT), used to have 5, when I still lived in Namibia. I work in a puppy school and I'm trainer in a dog sport club. I do/did Obedience, Schutzhund/VPG, Agility, Flyball, Tracking... I'm looking forward to read from people that know their dogs can do a lot more than look cute on the couch (which they no doubt do aswell;D) Greetings bones
