Hello John! Nice to hear from you. I think nobody knows at the moment what`s forbidden and what`s not. In some parts of Germany we can breed Am. Staff`s and in some it`s forbidden. I hope that we get a good rule for all parts of Germany soon. But no matter what happend, it is difficult to own an Am. Staff here, because the most people are very afraid when they meet an Am. Staff. They have heard so much bad things about our breed. And if you make IPO Sport with an Am. Staff. it`s more difficult. The most working-dog clubs doesn`t like our breed, so ìt`s hard to find a good club, withour bad feelings about our breed. If you visit dog-shows with your working Am. Staff., the most of the other Am. Staff. peopel have also bad feelings about you and your dog. Most of them think an working Am. Staff. is crazy and bit everythink. Very stupid, I think! So I must come to the end, because I`m at work and my boss will come back soon!!! Regards

Hi ulli
Well a positive step forwards i think , eventhough its not in all states - regions , but if your able to breed thats good. I have been travelling thru germany , on my way to italy and i know that most germans aren't that fun'd of breeds like ours. I think the media made us look bad , and if the citizens only hear bad stories you can imagine that they will start to believe them in a while.
I hope that one day the rules of breeding dogs , any dogbreed , will be registered by european law ..one law for all countries - they wanted that d a w n euro , we want rules for all breed , not for just a few :-)
Well anyway , welcome and post your pictures ;-)

hello ulli, nice to have met a german amstafflover on this board. I had a few questions too. If you own an amstaff in Germany (are pitbulls still allowed or forbidden in germany (the whole part of germany?) in a palce where you can have amstaff is it possible to breed with them? Do they have to go through a test for good character or are they put to sleep when they fail the good citizen test? I don't understand why amstafflovers like breeders in germany are not fund of your dog when you show your dog in the showring. Aren't they real amstafflovers? Don't they understand what an amstaff is all about, like an amstaff is a sportive dog and love to please?? It is strange that they have a same breed and that they judge you for being sportive with your dog. So to put in words, is your amstaff not equal in the showring by their thoughts just because you're doing ipo with him. ? Strange, I though we should support each one and another which have amstaffs, we are probably one of the most misunderstanding owners of a wonderfull breed. Well media mest up pretty good for us.

Hello John and Dakota!
I will tell you something about German rules and what I think about our breed. And I will try to give you answers of you questions. It`s not forbidden to own an Am. Staff in Germany, but if your dog is older as 6 month he must wear a buzzle and must put at a leash. You can get off it, when you make a temperament-test with your dog. There are different temperament-test in the parts of Germany. The most are reallly stupid!!! So I haven`t done one of this tests with my dogs. I don`t understand why shoud be my dog friendly, when someone attack me and my dog. And I don`t want a dog like this. I`m also not friendy to people that have bad feelings against me, why should my dog do that. I think it`s a normal retain that a dog protect his owner. But a lot of Am. Staff owners and breeders don`t agree with me. They told me that they haven`t bought their dogs for protect theirself. I also haven`t bought my dog only for this, but I would fight for my dog and protect him of all bad things. And I require that my dog would do the same for me. I really hope that my dog comes never in the situation that he must protect me, that is a bad situation. I think all this owner and breeders love not the same Am. Staff like we do. They love dogs that looks like our dogs, but between the character of our dogs and this dog is a big difference. I think they haven`t read the breed standard. There is written that an Am. Staff should be a friendly and fearless dog. But where are this dogs? I have visited a lot of dog-shows and it`s everytime the same, there are a lot of Am. Staffs that carry their tail between their legs. This makes me sad and angry. The most breeders only want a beautiful dog, but they forget the temperament. I also like beautiful dogs, but that is not all, an Am. Staff must have the real temperament and that is really important. I think the temperament of our breed makes the Am .Staff so unique.
I also hope that we get good rules soon. I think a big step would be to forbid breeding dogs without a pedigree, no matter which breed. So I will come to the end, becauce I want to train my dogs now. I train my dog five days in a week, so I haven`t a lot of time and need sometimes a little bit to write you back! I have tried to post my pics, but I made something wrong. I would be thankfull for a littel help!
All the best to you and never give up the fight for our breed

Hello, I was under the impression that a person could only own Amstaffs in Germany, if they passed a 2 hour long temperament test. This test was impossible for any dog that had prey drive or any dog aggression. I have a couple of Schutzhund titled ASTs here, that used to live in germany, but because of the breed legislation had to be sent out of the country. So, are there certain parts of germany where ASTs can be owned without the passing of a unrealistic TT?

Hi there everybody, My name is Jairo and I'm originally from Aruba but currently i am finishing my International Business studies in the netherlands. I'm 29 and I have been looking for a particular dog for a long time. Unfortunately that dog is not allowed here in NL. My older brother had an Am. Staff. and i immediately developed curiousity and intrest in the breed. Unfortunately I have been running into dead ends since i went looking for a good AST kennel. Most of the time they dont reply back.. thats a pitty. I hope to get more knowledge of the breed here on this forum and maybe even get more info where i can purchase my first AST.
