:)Hello, I think it is because we (U.S.) have the most weight-pull events. There are UKC, ADBA, IWPA and APA pulling events all over the country. It is a fun way to compete with your dog, and you can train for it by yourself. Unlike protection work, or competition obedience, you can train alone with just a harness and drag sled. Also, the dog only needs basic obedience, so it is a lot easier than other sports in my opinion. In fact, I trained 3 dogs all at once. I would drag -weight, every other day after work with my dogs(2 pits & a patterdale). It was fun but I did it in the middle of winter so it was cold, especially at night.
The A.P.A stands for American Pulling Association, and it is a new organization, that has all breed weight-pull. The I.W.P.A. is the International Weight Pulling Association, and they have been around for years, and are an all breed pulling organization. Both of these allow mix breeds to pull. They are not a registry, just for pulling contests, which include snow, wheels and rail pulls.

Because of laws , weightpulling isnt allowed in holland - i am not sure about other european countries but for holland its forbidden. There is a american bulldog clubs that does have weightpulling and also organise championships amongst eachother , but also with competitors from other countries.
They found a maze in the law by pulling on a rails , just like the trains do , so the thing has weels that stand on rails and that way the dogs pull.
So it is only forbidden in the netherlands when they would use just the car with weels that stand on the ground not when it is standing on a train-road and cars to pull have wheels to put on the track of the train-road?
In Belgium I don't know if it is forbidden but I have allready seen some wieghtpulling here in Gent.
