Congratulations to the WORKING PIT BULL TERRIER CLUB OF AMERICA (WPBTCA) and their recent acceptance of guest membership status into the AMERICAN WORKING DOG FEDERATION AWDF)! We've come a llllooonnnggg way baby :-)
BTW, this is no way negatively affects the FEDERATION FOR the AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIERS (FAST) and their already existing status within the AWDF.

There seems to be a lack of interest in working amstaffs overhere lately. The dutch Amstaff Club , or most boardmembers don't like what we are doing , but i believe that is their problem . They just don't get it , they even dont want to understand the way dogs are , especially alot are only intersted in the outside of the breeds.
If they only knew how wonderful this breed is , and how great they can do on every level on the workingfields.

John,
We have very similar problems here amongst our own as well. It is a VERY small group of individuals who are dedicated to the working aspect of the breed. But, we try hard to improve with each breeding and to prove their working ability to the working dog world by being active in as many different working dog sport arenas as will allow. Some of the big breeders do not believe in the protection sports for our breed as they feel it only hurts the image our dogs, and that it promotes people aggression. This, IMO, only proves their lack of true understanding of not only the breed, but the work itself. And, everytime someone tells me I can't do something with the dogs (happens often), only makes me that much more determined to show them otherwise. Yes, like the breed, I also can be a tad stubborn as well ;D

What i don't understand is why people that purchase our breeds , start to forget that these breeds are not only good looking , but breeds with multifuncional potentions. When we in holland look at the boxer and her club /owners we do see much much more interest in being busy with them in any way. There are several clubs where they can train , and they have a department for boxers in almost every provence.
This would be an example for amstaff people , to have their own trainingschool where they can meet others and train between getting some breed education. But when a breedclub doesnt even take the effort to educate nor train its own breed , you may think why are those people in the board or what the heck are they thinking to do for these breeds in general. Well thats my opinion for this matter. I truely believe that if there where more like us , busy with the breed in this way , less problems could acure and more and more serious people would be involved - not only the kind that has these breeds for status symbols , but for the true reason - because its a fantastic breed that can do anything we learn them.

Hi guys, I'm from the Philippines and here we have the Philippine Utility Dog Association, Its also an all breed protection dog spot, but currently I'm the only one who is actively competing with a pitbull, and we are so blessed that last year we finished 2nd overall in the rankings against top Belgian Malinois imports and GSD's. Here are some of our pics. www.sk9c.homestead.com/sauron1.html

Hi Temujin, Congratulations on your placement and THANK YOU for your dedication to the breed! I'm sure you were very happy to beat those long haired dogs at their own game :o The pictures on your site are impressive as is the look of your dog! Your organization looks similar to French Ring and/or PSA. Keep up the good work! Sincerely, Leri Hanson #nosmileys

Well I do agree with you people, our breed is not just a nice bunche of muscles they do have brains too, more than some guys think lol. Some of our dogs have more brains then his boss will ever have, but ok , that is another problem. Those status-symbol -people will never have the luck to know what our breed is really about.
I hope one day we can place some pictures of real good working dogs of our own.
Even in our dogschool there is a man that has a poodle, he asked me (because i watch the difficult class for hours and days now) why I was standing there and watching those really good working dogs and why I was not looking at those puppies that were nicer he tought (he is the husband of a woman which does have a working dog, an sheperd laekendaalse) which does train in that good class.
Well i said, it is nicer to see a really good working dog trainer and dog that do effort to make them both better then looking at puppies and people that are just beginners. I looked at those pups two months , but you can learn more from those experienced guys then out of puppyclass.
I said, and that is where it began, One day I will be in that good class too; i know it ain't easy and you have to work alot both, but I will get there, i will get there, i want to get there and my dog also.
He asked me what breed Amstaff I said, he was not convinched, nor did he had the idea to ask me more about it. He just said, well they are no working dogs at all, you better take a sheperd then, or some other real working dog.
I said; we will see my friend, you ain't see nothing yet of a working amstaff, in America they do great, even in high classes , even the sheperd clubs don't allow them because they get better then the sheperd itself and that is no positiv thing for the sheperd lol.
Ok, it will be my first dog, and i have to learn alot, I don't say my first dog will get there, but what i know is that i will work to get there. And our breed will guide me through
;D
