I was in some sort of way still thinking about the facts John told me some time ago about England and his AST law. I mailed some persons and they advised me to mail the governement (that will take monthS to get an answer I suppose) I got this text from a collegue working in the UKC (if I got it right) However, I asked for some guidance on this from someone who works closely with the UK Kennel Club and this is what I was told:- "There is a new leaflet about to be published by DEFRA which I and the KC have had a chance to review and suggest some changes. It is now expected to indicate that the AmStaff is a recognised breed in some countries and therefore is NOT a pitbull but warns anyone wishing to import one that the courts could easily still rule that it is "the type of dog known as a pitbull terrier" if it has substantially the physical and behavioural characteristics of a PBT. It therefore strongly warns people not to try and import them into the UK. The same applies to other "breeds" such as the American Bulldog and to "other types of dog" such as the "Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier (not to be confused with Staffordshire Bull Terriers bred in Ireland)", etc. Some question for here what is an IRISH STAFF BULL? Hi
The Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier is as far as I know the 'Fighting' cousin of the Staff.bull terrier. It has been bred for other purposes than the StaffBull (that has been bred for Show and companionship?) I also believe I have heard that there are many local variants of the Staff bull, fex, the Scottish Stafforshire Bull terrier. I do however not know this 100% certain, it is just what I have heard.
