So if nobody answers i'll have a go. IPO stands for internationale prüfungs Ördnung , which is almost the same as schutzhund. Both have three dissaplines , which are almost simulair. There are just a few points on defence that are different ( don't know which exactly).
So there is tracking , obedience and defence for them both.

Hello
I don't think there are stuid question out here.
We all know something, bringing those somethings together we have a whole bundle of knowledge together.
Maybe I can ask a question about the ringsport too. What is the difference between ringsports and IPO ? Does "guarding a box" belongs to ringsport? or is that an item of ""guarding" (verdedigingssport)
;D

Yes, the "Guard of Object" is in the ringsports (french and Mondio), but only at the highest level (3).
One of the biggest differences that stands out to me is the gun shots. As gunfire in ringsports is immediately before and during grips at just the entry level as opposed to heel free and long down as in SchH/IPO.
According to NARA Brevet rules:
"The dog who is gun-shy will be immediately eliminated and will not be awarded the Brevet. The test for gun shyness will be conducted during the Defense of the Handler exercise. At the moment of aggression (when the Decoy strikes the Handler), the Decoy will fire one shot and the second shot will come a few seconds after the dog bites. These gunshots must be directed in the air and in the opposite direction to the dog."
This little exercise in itself eliminates many a good SchH dog from crossing over to ring.
Hope this helps a little :-)
Bye fur now, Leri
