Hi in january we will be getting an amstaff... I am wondering though the colors the puppies had was from black/white to 1 brown and 1 white and 1 white/tanned Now i read white is not valid for amstaff?? Is that so and why ?? The mom came from a dogshelter in spain , and aparantly it was locked in a cage with other dogs before it came to Sweden , so we cannot be sure its 100% purebreed. We hope atleast it will get some of the amstaff qualities in worst case I had rottweilers before so it will be very fun with a dog in the house again... If someone can answer me on the color issue i would be greatfull , merry x mas.

The Am Staf standard says that "more than 80% white is not to be encouraged". BUT, it is NOT a disqualification in the show ring and if the dog is otherwise very nice, they can achieve championships. I have seen a few very nice white champions.
The original draft of the Standard sent to AKC in 1936 did not call for this wording about white. It was put in there presumably at the request of the Bull Terrier Club of America - which was concerned that an all-white Staf would look too much like their Bull Terriers.
For a pet, color is of no consequence, and if you LIKE white and the pup is otherwise well-temperamented, go for it!

Pick the pup that is active and outgoing - that is interested in people. I like the pup that crawls all over me when I sit down, that is underfoot when I walk and wants to engage in a game of tug. Avoid the shy pup and the one that is off by himself playing.

Hello and welcome to our board ,
I just read that the pups mom came from a spanish shelter , does she have the official pedigree she needs ? I was just wondering , with all those news laws and such , a pedigree is important.

Thats the mom of the pup , and that place in sweden who take care of the dog that is comming from spain , is very bad, they just do it to make money, so i am not even sure what that race the dad is , im not sure what the puppies will be like.
i believe the dogs have no pedigree at all , cause they lie about races on the site, as u see it says am bulldog.??
I will train it ofcourse, i would love agility.

Hallo entity!
Why a dog you don´t know if it´s purebreed? Of course it´s your choice...But a breeder in Sweden said " That kind of breeds will be "crazy" once in their life. When they are a few months or several years, one day something will happening". I´m not sure about that, but my experiences said; When I had a litter of purebreed Amstaffs, people called me an said: "We will not take the chance any more,we will buy a purebreed Amstaff instead, because then you know what you get (mentalhealth).
Another thing, I hold courses in obedience, then the group talk about go for a show tougether with all the dogs... Do you know how sad a woman was when she remember that her Poddle not was registry and wasn´t allowed to go on shows...
A friend of mine had a dog wasn´t purebreed, it get sick, the breeder was hiding...The veterinary wasn´t sure about what kind of breeds it was in the dog and couldn´t give the right medicin...the dog gets to sleep.
If you wan´t to do agility with your dog, maybe you one day want to start in competitions. I´m not sure you is allowed to do that...
I´m not an expert, but I should never bought a dog wasn´t purebreed.
And John, your the expert, could you say that the mother of the pups are good?
Exuse my bad thoughts about your new dog, but of course: GOOD LUCK!

Hi Carina , ok to start with the woman at the page you saw cebra at is lying , she gave away cebra threating to put her down if the girl didnt take her.
She also told the girl that it had no uterus ?! After she got the dog 4 weeks later it got 7 puppies ! When she called back to the shelter the woman said she was gonna come and get 2 weeks old puppies! Cause she sell them for a lot of money , around 400$ each, also lying they are pure breeds many times...look at the Cebra page again , says am bullterrier i think.
No Wback to dog thoughts...you are right about you know more what you get from a pure breed. I wont mind mixed but in this case i have really no clue what the pups are or will become. I had a pure breed rottweiler before 2 years ago with very good pedigree, and a mixed german shepard and rottweiler which was the most kind wonderful dog you can ever get.
But then atleast i knew what races it was, now i really dont have a clue.
As it is now me and my girlfriend has desided to get a Rottweiler again , talked to my old breeder again. I would love a Amstaff , but i think it is very hard to get good pedigree and serious kennels. I spent 1 year to find a good Rottweiler last time. So as it seems now i prob wont have a pup in the house till summer buhu , but i guess if you wait for something good........

Hallo! Now a little more about colors... This weekend I take my male for a show in Sweden, SKK, an international show. The judge like my male, but he gave him just a first price i quality, not more because he is black and fawn with a little white sign on his chest. His daughter get BOB, she´s fawn? like her grandfather Paco. Carina

...and a question about colors.
I like Amstaffs with a little "different" colors, in Sweden there´s many red/white Amstaffs. How do you breed to get black/white ? Black/white are very nice in my taste.
